This article presents a reflection on the current scenario of Health Plan Operators in relation to the new calculation adopted by the Brazilian National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS) in the monitoring of healthcare access guarantees through Preliminary Intermediation Notifications (NIPs). In brief, the article begins with a short explanation of this regulatory instrument, describing the new indicator, the perspective of the regulatory agency regarding the expansion of the calculation base, and the resulting technical, regulatory, and legal impacts on health plan operators.
